Every piece that leaves this studio is built to last. Stone carving removes material that cannot be replaced, and each stone responds differently to impact, chemicals, and temperature. These notes are here to help you wear the piece well — for as long as you have it, and for whoever comes after you.
Remove your jewellery before sport, gardening, physical work, and sleep. Before applying perfume, hand cream, or any cosmetic — put the jewellery on last, after everything else has dried. Avoid contact with chlorine, harsh detergents, and cleaning products.
For a thorough clean, a professional jeweller is the right choice — or write to the studio directly.
The dark surface of oxidised silver is part of the design — it gives depth to the carving and brings the Grana Milii texture to life. Grana Milii is the studio's signature surface treatment: hundreds of small dots placed by hand, following the form of the piece. The darkening settles into these marks and makes them visible.
Over time and with wear, the oxidisation lightens naturally where skin contact is greatest. This is not damage — it is the record of the piece being worn. Some wearers come to love this gradual change. If you prefer to restore the original depth, it is a simple process at the studio. Write to arrange it.
To slow the lightening: avoid perfume, cream, and chlorine contact as noted above. The same care applies to gold pieces with oxidised elements.
Each piece leaves the studio in individual packaging. Keep it there, or in a soft pouch — separately from other jewellery. Metal against metal scratches. Stone against stone chips.
Store away from heat, humidity, and direct light. A drawer or a closed box, not a bathroom shelf.
This studio works with sterling silver and 18 karat gold, including white gold with palladium. No nickel alloys are used in any piece. If you have a specific question about materials in a particular piece, write to the studio — every piece has a complete material record.
These pieces are made by hand and worn in the world. Sometimes, despite all care, something happens — a chip, a loosened stone, a surface that needs attention. I stand behind this work after it leaves the studio.
Write to the studio with a photograph and a description of what happened. I will look at it carefully and tell you honestly what can be done. Sometimes it is a matter of cleaning. Sometimes a small stone can be replaced. Sometimes a carved element can be restored. Every situation is different and every situation is handled individually.
