Fons signatus

The bail lifts away, and what remains is a seal. Signatus — sealed. The oldest walled gardens had a spring inside, and it was marked as belonging to someone.

A silver ring with a domed, blackened band, set with a large oval spessartite garnet in a bright polished bezel. The stone is deep orange-red and lit from the front so the facets glow against the dark metal. Blossoms in relief climb the shoulders of the ring, each with a small brown diamond at its centre, and the surface between them is covered in fine hand-punched dots. The background is dark brown.

Citrus sinensis

A blackened silver ring set with a rectangular rhodolite garnet held in four gold prongs, photographed close against a dark grey-green background. The stone is deep raspberry-red and lit from the front so the step cuts show as vertical bands of light. An octagonal frame of small green tsavorites surrounds it, and more tsavorites continue down both shoulders of the band. The metal is dark enough that the green stones read as the outline of the piece.

Capsula I

ARGENTUM · AURUM · RHODOLITHUS · TSAVORITUS
A long teardrop of frosted rock crystal hanging against a dark red-brown background. Leaves and a thin stem are carved in low relief across the front of the stone, rising from the matte surface. The cap at the top is blackened silver set closely with small green tsavorites, and the bail above it is set with a row of brown diamonds. The stone is lit from the front so the carving reads as shadow rather than shine.
